Megan Jennings

Hello! My name is Megan, the owner of Moon River Birth in Poulsbo, WA. I'm on a journey to learn and become more experienced in all things birth and the perinatal season. I am a trauma informed CAPPA Certified Labor Doula (CLD), TRICARE In-Network provider (in their Childbirth and Breastfeeding Demonstration), a trained Full Spectrum Doula (BADT), a Emotional Support Doula (NWAAF), a WA State Certified Doula for Medicaid reimbursement, and a Peer Group Facilitator here in Kitsap County, WA. I support families in their reproductive journeys specializing in labor, birth, PMADs, and abortion throughout Western Washington and beyond. I was raised in Bremerton, as one of my parents served over 20 years in the Navy. After graduating high school and traveling around (sure I'd leave Bremerton behind) I went to college in Maine. I moved back home and dug my roots in a little deeper. I am married, have a child, dogs and chickens. In the end of 2023, my husband and I finished building our own home on 5 acres. My birthing journey included using a Midwife and planned to birth at home though ended at Tacoma General with a cesarean. Also known as a Homebirth Cesarean. I have overcome battles with chest feeding, endured perinatal mood & anxiety disorders as well have an auto immune disease. My interest in birth work started with my own birth experience but grew after supporting a dear friend during their first birth. I have much to thank them for, including encouraging me to be there for other birthing families. In March 2019, I was honored to support my dear friend's second birth all the way in Japan! Like many others, my life has had big learning curves, with switchbacks and eddies I wasn't expecting. But hindsight is 20/20 right? And birth as with a lot of life's lessons are learned thru hindsight. I strive to be the person I needed through my birthing experience. It was all worth it because it all has led me to you!
